Y1 Changing of Guard

Year 1 were very excited to go to Buckingham Palace and watch the Changing of the Guard. We watched the House Hold Cavalry and the Coldstream Guards parade down the Mall and into the palace gates. While we waited for the guards to change, the mounted police very kindly moved us to a better position among the crowd and then invited the children to meet and stroke the police horses. It was a fantastic day out and a brilliant opportunity for children, parents and staff to see something very special that happens nowhere else in the world.

Malik “I liked it when the soldiers moved their guns over their shoulders and marched”

“First we went on the 44 bus to Buckingham Palace. I was excited to see the Queen. Next we heard the band playing and the magnificent soldiers marching. Then we ate lunch and sat on the colourful parachute. After that we had a fantastic run around in the park. Finally we went to school. In my opinion you should go to Buckingham Palace because it is exciting
and interesting”. Nyala
