School Grounds

Education is not something to keep in a box, even when the box is classroom shaped - Thomas Coram research Unit

We are fortunate at John Burns Primary School to have fantastic outdoor spaces.  With us being one-form entry and in an inner London setting, our outdoor space compares favourably to other local schools.

Our grounds include separate infant and junior playgrounds, each with their own play equipment. As a visitor enters our school, they are greeted by a large red and blue astro turf pitch.

Dual-Use Community Playground

Next to the infant playground, we have an enclosed dual-use playground that our pupils benefit from using within the school day.  This playground was commissioned by Wandsworth Council and is open for community use in the evenings and at weekend.

School Garden - JB'S Blooming Patch

In summer 2017, our school garden was transformed by Fantastic Gardeners.  Amaia Agyeman wrote to Fantastic Gardeners requesting their advice and assistance on how to landscape our school garden so that it can be used during the winter.  Our pupils now benefit from an outdoor space to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers.  This space was unveiled as JB’s Blooming Patch.
