Science Fair Volunteers

Dear Parents / Carers,

Come and join us on Saturday 11th March 2017 as a volunteer to help us at John Burns Primary School for a fabulous afternoon of science fun as part of British Science Week. Just contact our main school office if your interested in donating your time for a fun educational afternoon!

Aimed at families with children aged between 3-11 there will be lots of hands on activities for adults and children to do together, including the GIANT Astrodome, a portable planetarium which will take you on a tour of the moon and stars.

We want to raise the profile of STEM subjects with children and parents, encouraging them to see that science is both fun and accessible. This is a community event and all families are welcome to come and bring friends and relations!

Science Dome will be performing two shows in their portable planetarium – What to spot in the night sky? and Journey to the Moon. Both are interactive and suitable for audiences of all ages.

Sign up for one of our workshops – Make a Stomp Rocket and the Weather Workshop – all included with entrance.

Plus visitors will be able to make their very own flight themed science crafts to take away, prepare for an adventure by completing the Astronaut Trail of testing activities, and get the whole family together to join in the Family Engineering Challenge and see if you can get to the top of the scoreboard!

There will also be a Science Toy Shop and Refreshments Stall.

This event is being hosted by the PTA of John Burns Primary School with assistance from British Science Week and Sphere Science Ltd.

1.30-5.30pm at John Burns Primary School, Wycliffe Road, SW11 5QR.

Entry £3 per child, £2.50 for siblings. Adults are free.
