Sky Studios in Isleworth, West London.

Recently, 30 children from Years 3, 4 and 5 were lucky enough to visit the Sky Studios in Isleworth, West London.

As we arrived we were greeted by characters from The Simpson’s, Monsters Inc, bikes from the Sky team and football legends on posters around the foyer.  The children were spilt into 4 groups and each given a studio to work in. In the studio children were allocated various jobs such as director, producer, script writer, camera operator, reporter, expert, eyewitness and editor. All children were given a special sky studios lanyard to identify themselves in the group, just like the real workers of Sky!

Each group then took an element of the story – Natural Disasters! They reported from Texas, Canada and the studio, with children working in front and behind the camera to bring it all together.  Our finished news report was then finalised and aired for all to see. If you would like to have an exclusive look at our video – come and see it on our big TV screen in the entrance hallway.

This brilliant day ended with a tour around the working sky studios. Here, children were able to see where TV programmes are made and recorded. The studios were so much smaller than they look on TV!  It really was a fantastic day out, I think we most definitely have some aspiring presenters and producers in our school – so keep an out for their names in the credits in the future!
